Loop

Morning comes, did I wake up on time?
Open the fridge, are there eggs on-hand?
Cook a meal, did I make it just fine?
Read the news, is there anything grand?
You don't try hard enough.
Get to work, have I prepped all my stuff?
Check your pockets, do I have my bus card?
Step into the building, morning meeting— it's rough.
Evaluate to-do lists, anything to disregard?
You don't try hard enough.
Write some code, did I make it all work?
Yet another meeting, did I say the right words?
Go overtime, is this all that I'm worth?
Leave at night, no energy, no words.
You don't try hard enough.

You don't try hard enough,
That voice in me says.
Have I not done enough,
all these days?
